Every year at the farm there is a family gathering called pick up sticks. This year we picked up sticks around the yard, we even picked up old combines, found a new water source, cleaned out the old machine shed, repaired the rain gauge, organised the flower beds, mowed, sorted antique buttons, told jokes, ate good food (this year was supported by “Dela New Deli” a non-official Indian catering business), had a huge fire and eventually fell fast asleep!

Wish I was there. Sounds like you had a great time. Lots of hard work as well I am sure.

We have been doing this so long … don’t even know when it started. We have accomplished great things because … many hands make light work. There is always a big bonfire, sometimes with additional pyrotechnics; and marigolds are always planted. Discovering a new water source is something special!

Yeah, I was glad to participate for the first time in this family tradition gathering.

Jon and I figured Pick-up-Sticks started about 1990 or 1991. It was around the time Molly and I got married.
