It’s almost 9 a.m. Normally I would almost be at work. I would be taking a tram, a little bit crowdy, not air-conditioned, so probably hot right now, in June. I would be in a tram traffic jam, on Lubicz street, just by the huge shopping mall called – I don’t know why – Gallery. It used to be just the Krakow Main Train Station; now there are trains and shopping, noise and rushing around.

Tram by tram, slowly moving to get to work.

I would arrive at a brand new building of a company, to sit in a chair on wheels, sliding back and forth on the nice wooden floor, looking at the screen of my computer, for eight to ten hours. I would drink bitter low quality tea – free for employees. With sugar it wouldn’t make any difference. But the people were great. Their sense of humor and intelligence were sugar to my tea.

I would be there, but now I am sweating, sitting on a garden chair, looking at two acres of a vegetable garden-to-be, done tilling a slice of it, with a rototiller. The air in the shade is great. I’m a farmer now.
